MEDIATED TRANSPORT

The transportation of molecules in and out from the cell is facilitated by transport protein or permeases.

The movement of molecules in and out from the cell is done by the two process:-

  1. Active transport
  2. Passive transport
Active transport

  • The movement of molecules in and out from the cell against the concentration gradient that means from lower concentration to higher concentration is known as active transport.
  • In this type of transportation energy is required.
  • In this type of transportation transport protein or permease required.
  • In active transportation movement of molecules are unidirectional.
Passive transport
  • The movement of molecules in and out from the cell from higher concentration to lower concentration is known as passive transport.
  • Passive transport is done by the  simply diffusion or osmosis.
  • In this type of transportation no energy is required.
  • In this type of transportation no transport protein or premease is required.
  • In passive transport movement of molecules are bi-directional.
