The movement of molecules in and out from the cell is done by the two process:-
- Active transport
- Passive transport
Active transport
- The movement of molecules in and out from the cell against the concentration gradient that means from lower concentration to higher concentration is known as active transport.
- In this type of transportation energy is required.
- In this type of transportation transport protein or permease required.
- In active transportation movement of molecules are unidirectional.
Passive transport
- The movement of molecules in and out from the cell from higher concentration to lower concentration is known as passive transport.
- Passive transport is done by the simply diffusion or osmosis.
- In this type of transportation no energy is required.
- In this type of transportation no transport protein or premease is required.
- In passive transport movement of molecules are bi-directional.
