- Vacuole is membrane bounded cell organelles. The membrane of Vacuoles is called tonoplast.
Vacuoles in animal cell
- In animal cell vacuoles are temporary.
- It is small in size .
- It stores:-
- Water
- Glycogen
- Protein
- It help in maintenance of water balance.
- It is osmoregulatory organelles in protozoans.
- It help in ingestion nutrient material.
Vacuoles in animal cell
- In plant cell vacuoles are large in size.
- In mature plant cell it consumes almost 90% of the cell volume.
- The vacuole is filled withb cell sap.
- Cell sap is the watery solution with rich in sugars, amino acids, proteins, Minerals, and metabolic waste.
Function
- Helps in maintaining osmotic pressure.
- Provide turgidity and rigidity to the plant cell.
- Stores toxic metabolic by-product or end-product.
