CHLOROPLAST

• Found in green algae and higher plant.
• Chloroplast have green pigment called chlorophyll.
• Chlorophyll is helpful in photosynthesis and plant get food by the photosynthesis that's why chloroplast is known as kitchens of the cell.

Structure

• It is double membrane organelles Inner membrane and outer membrane.
• Inner membrane separates stroma from inter membrane space.
• Inter membrane space is the space between inner and outer membrane.

Stroma

• It is the colorless fluid inside the inner membrane.
• The grana is present inside the stroma.
• It contains a varity of photosynthetic enzyme, starch grains, DNA and ribosome.
• It is the site of dark reaction during photosynthesis.

Grana

• It is the site of light reaction during photosynthesis.
• Grana is made by thylakoids.
• Thylakoids contain the molecules of chlorophyll.
