- Fertilizers are chemical substance (organic like urea and inorganic like ammonium sulphate ) which helps in healthy growth of plants and good productive.
- The fertilizers which provide the all three minerals nitrogen , phosphorus and potassium to the plants are called complete fertilizers.
Fertilizers are used in less amount because it contains higher amount of nutrition.
- There are four types of fertilizers:-
- Nitrogenous fertilizers:- The fertilizers which provide nitrogen to the plants are known as Nitrogenous fertilizers.
- eg:-
- Urea
- Ammonium sulphate
- Calcium ammonium nitrate
- Sodium nitrate
- Ammonium nitrate
- Phosphatic fertilizers:-The fertilizers which provide phosphorus to the plants are known as Phosphatic fertilizers.
- eg:-
- Single superphosphate
- Triple superphosphate
- Dicalcium phosphate.
- Potassic fertilizers:-The fertilizers which provide potassium to the plants are known as Potassic fertilizers.
- eg:-
- Muriate of potash or potassium chloride
- Potassium sulphate
- Potassium nitrate
- Complex fertilizers:-The fertilizers which provide two or more nutrients to the plants are known as fertilizers.
- eg:-
- Nitrophosphate
- Ammonium phosphate
- Urea ammonium phosphate
