- Insects are harmful for crops plants.
- Insects attack the crops in three ways:-
- Chewing insect
- sucking insect
- Internal feeders
Chewing insects
- It destroy the root steam and leaf by cut it with its chewing mouth.
- eg:- locusts, grasshoppers, caterpillars etc
Sucking insect
- Sucking insects suck the sap of cell of plants.
- eg:- aphides, leaf hoppers, plant bugs etc
Internal feeders
- Internal feeders lives inside the plants .
- They are called borrowers if they live inside the twigs or roots.
- They are called weevils if they attack fruits and seeds.
- eg: grubs, termites etc
Methods of insect controlling
- Root cutting insects are controlled by mixing insecticides in roots.
- Steam and leaf cutting insects can be controlled by spreading of insecticides on plants.
- All sap sucking insects can be controlled by the systemic insecticides.
