- Weeds are unwanted plants in crops field.
- It is competitor for crops plant.
- It have faster growth than crop plants.
- It use the minerals and water faster than crops plant and hence crops plants can't get the nutrition and water in proper amount.
Types of weeds
- On basis of season it is divided into two groups:
- Kharif season weeds
- Rabi season weeds
- Growth of weeds in kharif season is more as compared to rabi season.
- On the basis of morphology weeds are divided into two groups:-
- Narrow leaf weeds
- Broad leaf weeds
Methods of weed controlling
- Mechanical methods
- Cultural methods
- Chemical methods
- Biological methods
- The process of removing the weeds from field is called wedding.
Mechanical methods
- Removing of weeds by hand pulled and ploughing.
- Before sowing weeds are removed by Using a big comb like harrow.
Cultural method
- Proper bed preparation
- Timely sowing of crops
- Inter cropping and crop rotation
Chemical method
- The chemical which kills the weeds are called herbicides or weedicides.
Biological control
- Some special insects which eats the weeds only.
