- After the selection of crops and planting into fields and providing the nutrients in proper amount then there is new challenge to protect it from insects and pests.
- Pests are the organism which destroy the plants or crops of plants.
- Weeds, insects, mites, nematodes, rodents, fungi, bacteria and viruses are the pests of crop plants.
- There are two main method of controlling the pest:-
1st method
- Use of pesticides.
- pesticides are chemical substance which kills the pests.
- pesticides includes insecticides, weedicides etc.
- But the uses of pesticides pollute the environment. so we have another method of controlling the pest.
2nd method
- The second method is prevention method.
- Its better to prevent before crops be infested by pests by some prevention method.
- Methods for prevention are:-
- Use of resistant variety of crops.
- Crop rotation and multiple cropping.
- Clean cultivation.
- Summer ploughing.
