STATES OF MATTER

  • MATTERS ARE FOUND IN THREE DIFFERENT STATES:-

Generally matters are found in three states:-

  1. SOLID STATE:- the state of substance in which it have definite shape and definite volume.

Properties of solids are:-

  • Solids have high density generally.
  • Solids are rigid.
  • The force between particles of solid( intermolecular force)  are strong.
  • Generally solids have high melting points.
  • There are very little space between the particles of solid.
  1. Liquid state:- the state of matter in which substance have definite volume and indefinite shape.

Properties of liquids are:-

  • Liquid is fluid so it can flow.
  • Liquid have low density in comparison with solid and high density in comparison with gas.
  • The force of attraction between the particles( intermolecular force) of liquid is weak in comparison with solid and strong in comparison with gas.
  • There are large space between the particles of solid in comparison with solid and small space in comparison with gases.
  1. Gaseous state:- the state of matter in which substance have indefinite shape and indefinite volume.

Some properties of gases are:-

  • Gases have low density.
  • Gases are fluids that means it can flow.
  • The  force between the particles of gases(intermolecular force) are weak.
  • There are large space between the particles of gases.
NOTE::-- There are two more states of matter one is plasma and another one is Bose-Einstein condensate
