- Soil have limited minerals and plants withdraw minerals from the soil.So for proper production regular mineral replacement is required.
- Minerals replacement is done by the addition of fertilizers and manures to the fields.
Manure
- Manure is the natural fertilizer.
- Manure contains large amount of organic matter and small amount of nutrients.
- Manure is prepared by the animal excreta and plant waste.
Advantage of manure
- Provide nutrients to the soil.
- Manure provides the food for organism which lives in the soil and help in providing nutrition to the plant.
- Manure add humus to the soil and humus helps the soil in soilo texture, better retention of water and aeration of soil.
Disadvantage of manure
- Manure have very less amount of nutrients.
- The transfer of nutrients from manure to soil is very slow process.
- It is bulky so not easy to transport.
- It can not fulfill the requirements of nutrients for a particular plants.
There are two types of minerals:-
- Compost and vermi-compost:- Compost is prepared by animal dung vegetable waste, animal refuse, domestic waste, sewage waste, straw etc. The process by which compost is prepared is called composting. In composting these waste materials are stored in pits to decompose after decompose it is converted into manure.
- Vermi compost are compost which is decomposed with the help earthworm which helps in fast decomposition of waste materials.
- Green manure:- The remaining part of some of the plant is mixed into the soil and it decompose and gives nutrients to the soil is called green manure.
